Our client requires 4 Production Engineers in Algeria on a rotational basis.
Essential Job Functions:
• To plan and implement a general program in the field operations office that has responsibility for well operation and interventions. Includes co-ordinating and preparing detailed work procedures and monitoring of field execution for activities associated with well interventions. Other operations under design and responsibility are: fracturing and acid stimulation asphaltene removal and inhibition treatments desalting treatments various coiled tubing operations including fishing operations producing well tests BHP Bottom Hole Pressure build-ups and drawdowns and production logging. This role involves the implementation of an engineering strategy developed in association with production engineers involved in strategic roles in the Algerian head office in Hassi Messaoud.
• To act as mentor for less experienced Algerian engineers. Must be able to work in a challenging and culturally diverse environment.
• To prepare a detailed workover completion and intervention procedures for gas water and oil injection wells. Be fully familiar with the latest advances in completion technology to be able to become an expert in the field of regional well operations.
• To organise and start operational consultation/investigations to monitor well performance and program efficiency. Recommend improvements to operational procedures and methods. Resolve well problems.
• To assist in preparing operating expense and capital expenditure budgets and to potentially lead the process. Provide assistance in monitoring the budget planning and scheduling the activities conducted on the wells and forecast changes that periodically occur that are required for corporate budget control.
• Oversee special contractual agreements with service companies and prepare tender documents for management approval. Monitor contract status during the term of the contract with a vendor and monitor cost and vendor performance. Direct Service Quality meetings with vendors.
• To design programs to reduce operating expenses. Focus on processes which maximise production improve the recovery of reserves and sustain profitability.
• A good understanding of completion design and knowledge of the reservoir would be beneficial to improve the interaction with the subsurface team when planning and running the data acquisition and development programs. An ability to communicate with the production and reservoir engineers to carry out analytical analysis.
• To work with other Hassi Berkine departments such as maintenance/ construction facilities plant wells and above-ground operations security and logistics to optimise the site. Act as liaison to facilitate appropriate improvements to the system.
• Responsibilities include the management of the wellsite supervisors and may require periodic direct supervision of wells at site.
• A secondary area of specialty is support surface operations and projects. The following bullets describe some areas related to this need and specialty which may be separate from downhole well operations. This area of responsibility requires an advanced knowledge of pipeline operations depressurization for repairs and construction operations.
• An ability to use systems computer programs and various measurement and evaluation equipment that control the production gathering systems water injection and gas distribution systems. Occasionally join and work with the above-ground production engineers and operators.
• Direct and participate in decisions on the allocation and measurement process. Ensure that well volumes for injection and production are achieved consistent with plans.
• Ability to read P&ID’s and interpret construction activities related to pipelines and wellsite locations.
• A good working knowledge of pipeline valves wellhead valves pressure relief valves and safe operating practices in surface operations.
Qualifications:
• Degree or equivalent in Engineering or related discipline - required for work permit
Required Experience:
• 7 years experience in operations and production engineering. Preferably with greater than usual emphasis on experience in carrying out well interventions fishing operations fracture and acid stimulation cased hole logging slickline and coiled tubing operations.
Must have worked for an Operator in an international environment
Additional experience/requirements:
• English French would be advantageous but not mandatory
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse remote and challenging environment.
• Management training including team development motivation motivation techniques leadership negotiation and persuasion skills.
